This project addresses the need for emergency housing in remote areas affected by the 2023 Al Haouz earthquake. The goal is to provide structures that serve as an intermediate solution between emergency tents and permanent housing. The dwellings consist of prefabricated foam panels, a material chosen for its versatility and efficiency. This method allows for the quick construction of various building types, catering to the diverse needs of the inhabitants.
One of the key features of these foam structures is their excellent thermal performance. This ensures a comfortable living environment regardless of the external weather conditions. In line with sustainability principles, these foam structures are designed to be reusable. Once permanent housing becomes available, the temporary structures can be dismantled and reused, minimizing waste, and promoting resource efficiency.
Aesthetically, the structures are finished to match the color and texture of local materials, allowing them to blend seamlessly with the surrounding environment and cultural context. Each unit features a covered front porch, providing a space for socializing and informal gatherings. This fosters community interaction and enhances the quality of life for the residents.
